Weekend in Montreal :: April 5-6

Wednesday, April 9th, 2008

This past weekend was a weekend I’ll never forget! Myuran’s dream of going to a Habs games came true. Especially with the game against our Toronto Maple Leafs who lost 3-1. Plus, an joyous way to celebrate my birthday. Age is a number and mine is unlisted….hahahaha!! Thanks Myuran, Subran and Sami!

“The noise started with 90 seconds remaining in this final game of the regular season. Everyone: men and women … boys and girls … all on their feet applauding this 104-point team. It grew louder and louder as the seconds of this remarkable season wound down, interrupted only by a silly fight that doesn’t deserve a mention, with 1.9 seconds remaining. Then, there were the Canadiens players gathering at centre ice, sticks raised in a salute to the fans —RED FISHER , The Gazette, RED FISHER , The Gazette, Published: Sunday, April 06, 2008″

I’ve been to few Leafs games but nothing comparable to a Habs game. Even though my support was for the Leafs, I still loved watching the game (even cheering for the Canadiens). The game was so loud that my ears started to buzz before the game even began. My voice was almost gone after the game. Sami lost a few pounds cheering too! LOL! I stood strong wearing my Sundin hockey jersey even being heckled by every Habs fan…only to rip-up my jacket after the game. The hockey spirit in Montreal is so much alive! They are truly a hockey town that loves their team! I’ve never seen that many fans going to limit (making T-Shirts insulting the Leafs…to painting their faces, body and wearing their hockey jerseys).

After the game, the party continued as the Habs fans celebrated their final regular season game before entering the playoffs. We ate at a nice local Montreal restaurant and then celebrated my birthday with chilled Cognac-based shots (tasted like mouth-wash). Actually, they tried to get my drunk, but it didn’t work. (Vinay/Pinka, I still give you credit! LOL!) By the time we walked back to the hotel, it was 1 am and the night was only early. I was so tired and felt like sleeping but also felt like partying. So I decided that we go to a club. 737…it was! The club was on the top floor of the RBC building and the best part, no I.D. check. Amazing!! Walked into the club, blasting house music (actually Bob Sincair playing), beautiful ladies dancing, dancing on the stage…Yada Yada Yada!

The next morning…tired and drained, we had a nice breakfast at Eggspectation and departed Montreal back to Scarborough, Woodbridge and finally Brampton!! 5 hour-long drive, 2 pit-stops, “No more bets”, “RAYYYCROFT”, “Leafs Suck”, 737, one Banango, Calabria 2007 anthem, Weekend to remember — PRICELESS!
