Bush: “Can I Stop Being President Now?”………LOL!

Monday, November 10th, 2008

Today (November 10th, 2008), In a press conference held on the White House lawn, President Bush formally asked the assembled press corps and members of his own administration if, in light of the election, he could stop being the president now.

He should have stopped being president on January 20th, 2001!!

Toronto Housing Market Crash???

Sunday, November 9th, 2008

The housing market in Toronto is experiencing drops not seen in years. We’re seeing a whopping 35% decrease in sales this month over October of 2007, and houses are on the market on average 7 days longer. Buyers and sellers are certainly apprehensive. And builders are likely nervous as well.

HINT HINT: David Miller caused the housing market crash for Toronto. They were saying that Toronto housing sales were inflated even more because people looking to buy within six months or a year rushed to buy before the land transfer tax came in.

RIM’s new Blackberry Storm

Wednesday, October 8th, 2008

Today, RIMM released its new BlackBerry Storm smartphone. This is their first phone to elminate the physical keyboard. The initial reviews are the Storm is different and better than Apple’s iPhone (I hope not!). Like the iPhone, the Storm uses a touchscreen. Unfortunately, the Storm cannot do finger-pinch/stretch iPhone trick of enlarging or shrinking the screen contents. But the new Storm lets you edit by cutting and pasting. No need to worry, Apple will develop its cut and paste feature on a future firmware upgrade. The Storm is a true world phone with 3G capability, but the Storm lacks Wi-Fi. The Storm has all the features you expect from any smartphone now including GPS, a video and music player, Bluetooth and a 3.2 megapixel camera. I believe the new Blackberry Storm will give Apple’s iPhone a run but will not surpass them. Believe me, Apple has developed lots of secrets for the iPhone that have not been released yet.

The BIG QUESTION: Will business users who spend time on their previous generation Blackberry keyboards be willing to switch to a touchscreen???

Goodbye Canadian Grand Prix

CityFlitz…$1 a day car rental program in Toronto

Thursday, August 21st, 2008

CityFlitz, Toronto’s newest auto-sharing company, showcased its $1 a day rental program in Toronto at Yonge-Dundas Square yesterday.

Its premise is simple: Drive around the city at least 30 kilometers a day in a car plastered with advertising, which heavily subsidizes the cost of the rental. They have rental cars at parking lots around the city nearby subway stations.

Cool: Wi-Fi high speed internet. This is really handy for iPhone users and anyone with a laptop who gets lost and needs to quickly look up Google Maps. Or if you’re a bored blogger stuck in gridlocked traffic.

Drawback: You are driving around in a mobile billboard (if you don’t mind). Also, each CityFlitz car in the fleet has a built-in GPS tracking system, this enables advertisers to have real-time information about the use of the car. Aside from the 30 km minimum use per day, CityFlitz members are allowed unlimited mileage within the city after that. And CityFlitzers are responsible for topping up the gas upon completion of the rental.

Condo boom is ending

Wednesday, August 20th, 2008

According to some condo market analysts, things will certainly be taking a downturn, but not necessarily crash.

Some say Toronto’s housing market is slowing down due to the city’s new land-transfer tax??!

World’s fastest office chair

Monday, August 18th, 2008

Strange but true!!

According to FOXNews.com, German police have confiscated what may be the world’s fastest office chair. Police say officers happened on the contraption — the work of two inventive 17-year-olds — in the western town of Gross-Zimmern on Saturday. The pair had added a lawnmower engine, bicycle brakes and a metal frame to the revolving chair — making into a go-kart-like vehicle. Police said in a statement Monday the inventors insisted they had only tested it over a few meters, but witnesses reported seeing it on several streets. They are being investigated over a variety of possible offenses, including defying insurance regulations, driving without a license and violating registration requirements. Police did not say what top speed the chair could reach.

Lets hope that Steve Jobs is OK??!

Thursday, July 31st, 2008

Copy and Paste: After a strong quarterly report, Apple, Inc. took a dive into the low $150s, much to the surprise of many. It was largely attributed to the worry investors paying close attention to the quarterly call had about the health of Apple’s CEO Steve Jobs. Jobs had been treated for a form of cancer in 2004, which he only updated the world about after he’d been successfully treated. This secrecy forced many to wonder if his recent change in physical appearance was related to a recurrence of the cancer. With posts and news stories wondering the same thing out loud, the solid quarterly report played second fiddle to people’s fears about an Apple without it’s iconic leader.

Ontario government has plans to introduce legislation to ban cell-phone use while driving in the fall

Drivers face cell restrictions

I saw a police officer texting away on a personal phone while the light was green. I couldn’t honk at him unless I wanted to get pulled over. Even school bus/TTC bus drivers speak on their cell-phones while they drive their bus. Driving and talking with a head set is one thing but people should get in trouble for trying to do other things on phones like texting.

Very good article for all who want to know how recessions work.

Rogers said “Yes” but not for $199

Sunday, July 13th, 2008

So those bastards said that I was eligible for an hardware upgrade to the new iPhone, but not for $199. They told me that I was only on Tier 1 which is not enough to get the iPhone for $199. Thats bullshit because if I’m willing to buy the phone as well as the $30 data package, isn’t that enough money for them??!!  Don’t worry, I will give them a call tomorrow….complain and let them know that I have three services with Rogers and I already spend enough for all three services!! I will keep you all posted!!

Remember the kid that unlocked the first iPhone?

Sunday, July 13th, 2008

…well, he works at Google now. And when asked “What are you doing at Google?”

“I’m an intern on Google’s Street View team. We drive around and take street-level pictures. I probably shouldn’t say anything else. I’ve been there since April. I’m taking a break from school.”

Take street-level pictures?? EHH..HUH??!! Thats so cool…maybe I should join that team!!

Wedding Gift or Not?? on the Go-Train

Monday, July 7th, 2008

I was taking the GO train home last week and two riders were arguing about giving a gift at weddings. So, I decided to reduce the volume on my iPod and listen to the conversation. Both had some good points but the final point that I heard was: “If you invite me to your wedding, don’t expect a wedding gift. My presence is enough. In return, you can stiff me at my wedding. Though let’s face it, if I stiffed you at your wedding, I’m probably not inviting you to mine.”

I had to pretend that it was my stop and walk away because that was the funniest thing I’ve heard on the GO train.

We are still not getting benefits from our loonie

Wednesday, June 11th, 2008

According to new study BMO Nesbitt Burns, Canadians continue to pay more for purchases, despite the stronger loonie. The study revealed Canadian shoppers have been paying 18 per cent more on average than Americans for the same items. This is the truth!! Example, Canon Speedlite 580EX II Flach in Canada is $519.99 compared to $420US at B&H Photo Video.
