Independent warranty provider SquareTrade has released a report showing that iPhones are more reliable than either BlackBerry or Palm Treo devices. I don’t know if this is actually valid??!! I currently own an iPhone and it is not perfect yet! MobileSafari still has its bugs and 3G can be better (blame it on Rogers!!)
The report, titled “iPhone More Reliable than BlackBerry, One Year In“, analyzes failure rates for more than 15,000 new cell phones covered by SquareTrade warranties. SquareTrade found that after one year of ownership, iPhone owners were half as likely as BlackBerry owners to have a phone failure, and one-third as likely as Treo owners.
Hahahahaha — they obviously haven’t talked to Sami yet. It took him 3 iPhones to get a stable iPhone.

Finally saw Wanted last week….WOW!! It’s fun and insane!! So where is the story going to go next? Those who saw Wanted knows how it ends, with Wesley Gibson ready! The movie is based off of a comic book, which is a franchise, thus meaning the movie is also part of that franchise. SEQUEL?? don’t know yet! Someone call Universal!

The hand holding a gun is a left hand, obviously. Look at the fingers. But the arm holding the gun is a right arm.
Wanted is about Wesley Gibson, 25-year-old account manager who was was the most pathetic guy on the planet. His boss chewed him out hourly and his girlfriend cheated on him daily and his life sucked, until he became Wanted. After the murder of a father he never knew, Wes discovers powers beyond his dreams. He becomes the latest recruit in the Fraternity (a secret society of assassins) and develops superhuman reflexes. The fraternity’s mission: carry out the death orders of the mythological Fates, weavers of every man’s lifeline. However, Wes discovers his tutors (frat members) are not exactly the enforcers of justice they claim to be and realized that he controls his life.

A math professor was explaining a particularly complicated calculus concept to his class when a frustrated pre-med student interrupts him. “Why do we have to learn this stuff?” the pre-med blurts out. The professor pauses, and answers matter-of-factly: “Because math saves lives.” “How?” demanded the student. “How on Earth does calculus save lives?” “Because,” replied the professor, “it keeps certain people out of medical school.”

Sources all over the web are gearing up for Apple to launch a whole range of new laptops in the coming weeks. I certainly hope this is true. Apple knows how to innovate through these economic downturns.

Today, RIMM released its new BlackBerry Storm smartphone. This is their first phone to elminate the physical keyboard. The initial reviews are the Storm is different and better than Apple’s iPhone (I hope not!). Like the iPhone, the Storm uses a touchscreen. Unfortunately, the Storm cannot do finger-pinch/stretch iPhone trick of enlarging or shrinking the screen contents. But the new Storm lets you edit by cutting and pasting. No need to worry, Apple will develop its cut and paste feature on a future firmware upgrade. The Storm is a true world phone with 3G capability, but the Storm lacks Wi-Fi. The Storm has all the features you expect from any smartphone now including GPS, a video and music player, Bluetooth and a 3.2 megapixel camera. I believe the new Blackberry Storm will give Apple’s iPhone a run but will not surpass them. Believe me, Apple has developed lots of secrets for the iPhone that have not been released yet.
The BIG QUESTION: Will business users who spend time on their previous generation Blackberry keyboards be willing to switch to a touchscreen???

Formula One announced today that they will no longer race in Canada. Instead, they will be replacing this track with one in Abu Dhabi. Who knows, F1 might bring the race back to Canada sometime in the future.

Google Street View is the next best thing!! It is sooooo cool…can’t wait till its available!!
Couple of new features buried within the iPhone 2.2 beta (NOT OFFICIAL):
- Support for Japanese emoji icons — a popular feature for Japanese phones. The lack of emoji support has been blamed as part of the reason for slow iPhone adoption in Japan.
- Support for Google Street View for the Google Maps application. Street View allows users to view panoramic street level photographs in select cities within the Google Maps application. I hope it does not slow down the iPhone’s performance.
Finally, Apple has also addressed one common request within the iPhone’s Keyboard settings, allowing users to disable the iPhone’s auto-correction.
Also, I hope they concentrate on getting the email fetching bug fixed in the new firmware, multimedia messaging, a full-on word processor,

Today was a rough day for all investors across the globe! The TSX was down more than 1000 points and investors got out of their stocks today (Monday), as the financial crisis in the U.S. showed signs of moving into the European and Asian markets. All this market turmoil because a greedy American came up with a way to package dodgy mortgages in the U.S. in a way that profit hungry bankers would buy in. People made a lot of stupid investment choices that they couldn’t afford. Houses and stocks don’t always go up. The $700 billion bailout is not going to do anything. This bailout will only give U.S. banks the much needed cash but it does not solve the irresponsible practices of Merrill Lynch, Citigroup, AIG, Lehman Brothers and other Wall Street firms that gave rise to this crisis.
Don’t panic…. just be prepared for any coming recession or, hopefully not, depression.

CityFlitz, Toronto’s newest auto-sharing company, showcased its $1 a day rental program in Toronto at Yonge-Dundas Square yesterday.
Its premise is simple: Drive around the city at least 30 kilometers a day in a car plastered with advertising, which heavily subsidizes the cost of the rental. They have rental cars at parking lots around the city nearby subway stations.
Cool: Wi-Fi high speed internet. This is really handy for iPhone users and anyone with a laptop who gets lost and needs to quickly look up Google Maps. Or if you’re a bored blogger stuck in gridlocked traffic.
Drawback: You are driving around in a mobile billboard (if you don’t mind). Also, each CityFlitz car in the fleet has a built-in GPS tracking system, this enables advertisers to have real-time information about the use of the car. Aside from the 30 km minimum use per day, CityFlitz members are allowed unlimited mileage within the city after that. And CityFlitzers are responsible for topping up the gas upon completion of the rental.
